Did you use AI to write your CV? Are you wondering whether to tell anyone? You’re not alone, and nobody at Ledger is going to be shocked.

AI has changed recruitment for candidates and recruiters alike. Ledger has always embraced technology, so we’re expecting that you might use these tools during your application. What matters most, is how you use them, so here are a few pointers.

Before you apply: enhance but don’t invent

AI is good at finishing and improving. Use it to:

  • Draft or restructure your CV
  • Tidy up your LinkedIn profile
  • Fix grammar or spelling
  • Find clearer ways to describe your experience

Two things to check

Adapting your CV to a role is usual, and AI can help: it can show you which parts of your experience matter most for a given job and what to highlight. What doesn’t work is pasting a job description into your CV, or asking AI to rewrite your experience until it mirrors the posting. If your background doesn’t match what’s written, it reads as hollow, and it tends to show quickly in an interview. Start with what you’ve actually done and then choose what to prioritise.

The second thing to be conscious of is the use of tools that can apply to dozens of roles on your behalf. We receive over 35,000 applications a year, and an application is stronger when you’ve chosen the role yourself, and you’re able to articulate why it fits your experience and your goals.

During the process: prepare, then show up as yourself

AI makes a good sparring partner. You can use it to:

  • Learn about Ledger: our culture, our products, and our mission (but double-check on our website, as AI can get facts wrong)
  • Rehearse both behavioural questions (“tell me about a time when…”) and skills-based questions
  • Practice answering questions built around your own experience

Rehearsing helps you find your words. In the interview, we want to hear them in your own voice.

“I remember interviewing candidates who were reading from a text. I could see their eyes moving from left to right, and it felt like talking to a bot. When I asked follow-up questions, they became uncomfortable, because the conversation wasn’t fluid at all.”

Romain, Talent Acquisition Partner

The problem isn’t preparing with AI. It’s reading from a script, which makes it hard for us to get to know you. Use your notes to get ready, then talk to us.

Technical exercises: ask first

The rules depend on the exercise, and for some, we’ll encourage you to use AI. For others, we won’t. If the instructions leave you unsure, ask your recruiter. It’s a normal question and we’re happy to help.

You make the decisions

AI can speed up your preparation, but you choose which roles to apply for, what to say, and whether a role is right for you. Feel free to talk about how you use AI with the team along the way, we’d love to hear about it.
