Context & Purpose of the Role
The Total Rewards team is entering a high-intensity period: a year-end compensation review cycle, active benchmarking work, custom bonus plan reviews, and a rising volume of analytical deliverables supporting executive and board-level reporting. To protect bandwidth and quality, we are bringing in a mid-level contractor to work closely with and under the supervision of our Paris-based Compensation & Benefits Expert, reporting directly to the Head of Total Rewards. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role for someone with genuine C&B grounding who can work with light direction once context is set, and who understands what makes compensation data credible.
What You’ll Be Working On
Year-End Compensation Review
-
Support data preparation and validation for the annual merit, performance, and bonus review cycles: building and maintaining population files, tracking timelines, and flagging data quality issues before they become problems.
-
Work closely with the C&B Expert on modelling and scenario analysis (budget impact, distribution curves, outlier identification), producing clean, auditable outputs.
-
Contribute to salary budget modelling and refresh of salary structures using latest market data, including updates to merit matrices.
-
Coordinate with HRBPs and People Ops on data collection and sign-off workflows to keep the cycle on track.
Analytical Work for Board & Executive Reporting
-
On direction from the Head of Total Rewards, carry out the underlying data pulls, analysis, and cross-checks to populate compensation metrics and summaries used in board and executive slides.
-
Produce clean, presentation-ready tables and data panels with accurate footnotes and sourcing, so outputs can be directly incorporated into slide decks.
Bonus Plan Design Reviews
-
This contractor may provide support to the C&B Expert and Head of Total Rewards during bonus plan reviews, including
-
Preparing and updating slide decks to support design discussions.
-
Running employee data analyses and refreshing payout range modelling for plan redesigns.
-
Using AI tools to update bonus plan rules documentation in Word as designs evolve, ensuring plan write-ups accurately reflect agreed changes ahead of final review.
-
Ad Hoc C&B Support
-
Support the C&B Expert on operational tasks: Workday data uploads, equity grant list preparation and validation, and patent premium tracking.
-
Support the C&B Expert and Head of Total Rewards on ad hoc projects. Examples may include aspects of job architecture and related market benchmarking analytics, pay equity & equity grant modelling.
What We’re Looking For
Requirement
Experience
4 years+ in Compensation & Benefits or Total Rewards. C&B-specific experience is required; broader HR analytics backgrounds without meaningful C&B exposure will not be considered.
Education
Degree in a quantitative discipline preferred (e.g. Finance, Economics, Statistics, or equivalent).
Excel & Modelling
Advanced Excel is non-negotiable: pivot tables, scenario modelling, audit-proof workbooks, and confident handling of large datasets.
Benchmarking Tools
Hands-on experience with Radford or Mercer Comptryx strongly preferred. Familiarity with the mechanics of job matching and market data interpretation is expected.
Workday
Experience using Workday for compensation cycle management is a strong plus.
Stakeholder Exposure
Experience working with or supporting stakeholders outside France — whether across European markets or globally — is a plus.
Autonomy
Able to work from a defined brief with minimal hand-holding. Asks the right clarifying questions early; doesn’t need ongoing supervision once context is clear.
Languages
Fluent English required (working language of the team). French strongly preferred — most day-to-day collaborators are Paris-based.
Tools
Comfort with AI tools (e.g. Claude, Gemini) for document drafting and workflow efficiency is welcome.
What This Role Is (and Isn’t)
This is not a strategy or design role — Ledger already has senior expertise in-house for that. What we need is someone who executes cleanly and independently at the analytical and operational level, and who brings enough C&B literacy to produce outputs that don’t need to be re-done. You will be working on real, high-stakes deliverables from day one.

“What really blew me away was how genuine and earnest everyone is. There is no “you’re on your own” mentality, I had the opportunity to learn the ropes at my own pace, observe, ask questions and find out how to optimize things to work based on my preferences. My team especially, is helping me relearn what a healthy work relationship looks like. We support each other and there’s no gatekeeping on projects, technique or skill.”
