With a career spanning at tech giants like Hewlett-Packard and Amazon, Magali now leads Ledger's global marketplace strategy, driving expansion into new regions and industries while also organizing #ledger-lunch-hour. Discover her journey in the interview below.

What’s your background, and how has your career evolved during your time at Ledger?

I started my career in the tech industry with Hewlett-Packard, where I gained valuable experience in marketing strategy. After HP, I joined Amazon, focusing on business development and account management, which helped me build a strong foundation in both the tech and e-commerce sectors.

When I joined Ledger in November 2021, my role was initially centered around managing our presence on Amazon while diving into the world of web3. Since then, my responsibilities have expanded to include managing our strategy across multiple global marketplaces. Recently, I’ve stepped into a full managerial role, and I’m thrilled to now have someone on my team to collaborate with. It’s been a journey of growth, both for me and the business, and I’m excited about the opportunities we have ahead.

Can you explain your role and how strategic it is for the company?

As part of Ledger’s wholesale team, I collaborate closely with the rest of the team to open the largest and most relevant retailers and marketplaces worldwide, ensuring that our products reach customers wherever they are. My role is pivotal in managing our presence on global marketplaces like Amazon (18 countries), but also on Shopee and Lazada in South-East Asia, Hepsiburada in Turkey, and very soon in new ones like Flipkart in India or Rakuten in Japan. I work with logistics, marketing, legal, and many other teams to ensure smooth operations, maintain brand consistency, and drive growth.

What main challenges will your team face in the coming months?

Our immediate focus is on boosting visibility and sales for Ledger Flex, a crucial product for our growth. The team is also excited about our ongoing expansion efforts, with current projects in India and Turkey, and an upcoming push into Latin America, especially Brazil, where I’m aiming to launch on Amazon and Mercadolibre. Successfully entering these markets will be a significant win for Ledger.

Another important goal is convincing Amazon to create a dedicated category for hardware wallets and crypto products. I think we’re all ready to move out of the USB-key category—it’s time for crypto to get the spotlight it deserves!

Can you tell us more about your initiative “#Ledger-Lunch-Hour”?

#Ledger-Lunch-Hour is my take on a fun tradition I loved at Amazon. I started it as a Ledger Ambassador to keep us all connected during our office transition. It’s all about spicing up your lunch break by meeting new faces.

Participants sign up via a Google Form, get randomly paired into small teams, and use Slack to choose a lunch spot. It’s open to everyone and a great way to get to know colleagues from other teams.

Finally, what’s your favorite thing to do on weekends?

Favorite plan: sleeping and eating! But when I really need to recharge, I head back to the beach in Normandy, where I grew up. Even if it’s not exactly the sunniest spot, I like to think of it as my secret spot and I will always enjoy a beach day, rain or shine!

In this post, he shares valuable insights that apply equally to both sports and the business realm. Explore his inspiring journey below.

Can you tell us about your journey and how your career has evolved since joining Ledger?

After 5 years at Netatmo, I joined Ledger almost 3 years ago to build our wholesale distribution networks in MEA & APAC. Since then, I’ve been working to bring Ledger to retail in strategic markets such as the UAE, Australia, Turkey or India. Contributing to the introduction of a new product category in the retail worldis a unique opportunity, and while the team has come such a long way there’s still so much more to achieve. Exciting!

Everybody at Ledger knows about your passion for sport as you were one of the winners of the Ledger Olympics this summer. Can you tell us how it all started?

It’s really been a rabbit hole, starting endurance sports from scratch at 25 years old to making my Age Group podium at an Ironman race and qualifying for the World Championships a few weeks ago. I started training just to get fit enough for ski touring - a far cry after 10 years smoking and no background in endurance sports whatsoever. The further I trained and got fitter, the more I kept pushing myself, and the more I started to see I could achieve things I thought were impossible for me. I've learned that the difference between impossible and achievable is a proper plan. And knowing that each day I’m training helps turning yesterday’s dreams into tomorrow’s objectives is really empowering.

How does the love for sport impact your daily life at work?

Endurance sports taught me that with resilience, consistency, humility and a great team, anything can be achieved. These have also been instrumental in my daily work at Ledger.

Resilience

In sports or in business alike, things rarely go exactly according to plan. Today, we’re about to enter 25 stores at Officeworks in Australia, after having opened JB Hifi earlier this year. But this has been a 2.5 year journey until we made it reality.

Consistency

It’s not about that one massive workout or one big business win, it’s about the daily grind. India, one of the most complicated markets when it comes to wholesale distribution, also took almost 2 years to crack between product certifications & convincing the best possible distributor for Ledger to onboard onto the Web3 journey.

Humility

No matter how good or how fit you get, you’ll always find someone so much better than you from whom you can learn. In retail as well, and in order to build relationships with different people around the world, you always have to stay rooted, keep learning and remain open.

Team work

Even in an individual sport like triathlon, a team of experts have helped me throughout my journey. Exactly as each wholesale achievement always required the support of many other teams at Ledger, from Marketing, Brand, Design, Legal, Certifications, Logistics, Shipping to Product and more.

Finally, how would you motivate more people to start doing sports?

Whether it’s about starting from scratch or getting a personal best, just think about a dream you have. From running 1k to an ultra trail, it just needs to be something that scares you a bit, but that you want even more. If you really want it, dreams can be achieved. Just show up and keep yourself accountable. Just do it :)

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I love exploring new places and spending time in nature — and as a crypto enthusiast, I also enjoy following and keeping up with the latest trends and projects in the space (sometimes even for fun on weekends!)

What are you currently learning or working on that excites you?

With crypto evolving every day, I’m excited about deepening my knowledge of different blockchains and keeping pace with the industry’s rapid changes, so I can help our customers use Ledger’s secure solutions.

What makes Ledger different from other places you’ve worked?

Ledger stands out because it’s directly tied to the crypto world I’m passionate about — it feels natural to be here, contributing to a mission I truly believe in.

What has been your development journey since you joined Ledger?

Since joining Ledger, I’ve grown both professionally and personally — I’ve deepened my knowledge of crypto and blockchain while also developing the confidence to support customers in meaningful ways.

What’s the most rewarding project you’ve worked on at Ledger?

The most rewarding project for me was supporting customers during the launches of Ledger Stax and Ledger Flex, our first touchscreen devices — being part of such an important milestone and knowing I played a part in making their journey with Ledger smooth was a proud moment.

How would you describe the team culture in three words?

Supportive, innovative, collaborative.

What's a piece of advice you’d give to someone who is just starting their career?

In customer support, especially in crypto, my advice is to stay adaptable and curious — the industry changes quickly, and asking questions, learning constantly, and being patient with yourself will help you grow and succeed.

"I grew up in a favela in Rio. Now I’m an Engineering Manager in a company shaping the future of crypto security. That’s not just a career move—it’s a life transformation.”

Danny França’s story didn’t begin in a boardroom or on the fast track to tech leadership. It began in Rio de Janeiro, where an early love for puzzles, video games, and math led him into teaching.

By 21, he had launched his own tutoring company—and taught himself digital marketing and programming just to keep it alive. But when Brazil’s economic crisis hit, everything changed.

“I pivoted fully into software engineering and never looked back. What started as a necessity became a deep passion—solving real-world problems through code.”

That leap set him on a path that carried him far beyond Rio. In 2022, his life transformed almost overnight: he closed his small business, joined a startup, received an international job offer, and met the woman who would become his wife—all within the span of a month.

“It felt like my entire world shifted in just a few weeks.”

Today, Danny leads Ledger’s e-commerce engineering team, responsible for powering nearly half of the company’s revenue. He says the work is technically demanding—but what drives him is creating the right environment for his team to thrive.

“I noticed when I arrived that the team was stretched too thin. Instead of just pushing harder, we changed how we worked—streamlining priorities, planning more deeply, and focusing on one thing at a time. It brought focus, balance, and calm back to the team.”

Teaching, he says, gave him the resilience and people skills that still guide him as a manager.

“If you can hold the attention of a classroom full of kids, you can manage anything,” he laughs. “The fundamentals are the same: listen, guide, and give people space to grow.”

What excites him most about Ledger is how personal the mission feels. He remembers moments in Brazil when banks closed and people suddenly lost access to their savings.

“That’s when you understand why self-custody matters. It’s about protecting what you’ve worked for, so no one else can decide its fate.”

Even the objects on his desk tell that story: a dusty old wallet he once used, now sitting forgotten in a drawer, next to the Flex he uses every day. For him, it’s a reminder of how far both he and the industry have come.

At Ledger, Danny says he’s found something rare: the freedom to build, lead, and live with balance.

“I’ve worked in high-pressure roles before, but this is the first time I’ve had the space to think creatively, lead with intention, and trust my team. Here, no one carries the weight alone—we carry it together.”

Over lunch with his team, conversations often turn into jokes about who isn’t eating their vegetables. It’s a small moment, but it captures what he values most: connection.

“Growing up, I had to fight for every inch of progress. Now, I get to lead with empathy, solve problems I care about, and help others grow too. That’s what Ledger has given me—and that’s what I want to keep giving back."

People of Ledger - Bridget Jennings Dumont

“I didn’t know a thing about crypto when a headhunter called me. I said, ‘Give me three weeks. I’ll know everything.’ And I did.”

Bridget Jennings Dumont didn’t plan to enter the world of crypto. Her background was in luxury, writing for some of France’s most iconic brands, where words were about elegance and heritage.

But Ledger felt different.

“It wasn’t just the mission. It was the people. I saw leadership that genuinely listened, that created space for questions and new ideas. That kind of culture is rare, and it made me want to help shape it."

She joined Ledger to connect international teams with marketing and communications.

Today, she leads global copy, bringing clarity, consistency, and a human voice to everything the brand communicates across regions and products.

“I spend a lot of time thinking about the space between the words. The rhythm, the punctuation, the tone. We are no longer a startup. The way we speak needs to reflect who we have become.”

For her People of Ledger shoot, Bridget led a rooftop yoga session, with the sun overhead and the Paris skyline behind her.

“Yoga is not about the pose. It is about listening, especially to yourself. And I think that is true at work too. We are constantly collaborating, evolving, and choosing the right words. Sometimes, the pause matters more than the sentence.”

Ledger, she says, has changed how she thinks about ownership, not just of crypto, but of her future.

“Finance used to feel out of reach. Now I understand the risks. I know how to protect myself. And like in yoga, once you understand how it works, you stop panicking. You float.”

People of Ledger - Mickaël B

“There’s something special about this place. It’s a mix of brilliant minds from all over the world, all pushing each other to grow. Not just the products, but ourselves.”

Mickael Billard began his journey at Ledger in 2017 as a Senior Software Engineer, one of the company’s earliest technical hires. Back then, he was focused on building internal tools that would quietly power the business behind the scenes.

Seven years later, Mickaël now leads a team of ten. Together, they design and develop the infrastructure that enables Ledger to operate at scale, supporting global logistics, automating complex systems, and helping teams work smarter every day.

“When I started, we were shipping a few hundred orders a day. Then crypto exploded, and suddenly there were thousands. That kind of growth doesn’t just stretch your tools—it stretches your mindset. We had to rebuild everything to scale.”

He vividly remembers the day Ledger crossed the one million device sold mark.

“At the time, it felt unreal. It might seem like just a number now, but back then, it was proof that what we were building mattered. That we were helping people secure what’s theirs.”

For Mickaël, Ledger has always been about more than just technology. It’s about how things are built, and the people you build them with. Beyond engineering, he’s an active member of Ledger’s employee committee, helping shape internal culture and create moments of connection across the company. At home, he keeps a personal archive of every Ledger device and limited edition released over the years. He even brought a selection of that colle ction to his People of Ledger photoshoot—a small but meaningful glimpse into the journey he's helped shape.

“Each one tells a story. A launch. A challenge we overcame. A step forward.”

Whether he’s solving complex systems challenges or catching up with teammates over coffee, Mickaël says one thing has always remained the same: the feeling of building something meaningful, with people who care. And when asked how he explains his work to his family, his answer is simple.

“I told my grandmother, we’re not a bank. A bank can take your money—we can’t. We just protect it.”

Meet the Engineering Team - Philipp, Senior Software Engineer

Can you tell us about your role at Ledger?

I'm currently on the team responsible for developing the Swap app inside the Ledger Live app.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Well I just moved to Paris, so for the past couple of months my main occupation was moving from one temporary apartment to the next, but I hope that at some point in the future I can find a small workshop somewhere to pick up my hobby of building loudspeakers (and other things). Until then, it’ll be reading books and getting to know Paris.

What are you currently learning or working on that excites you?

I became more interested in the whole crypto and Blockchain topic over the last few years, also in the technical aspects and had some touch points with it in my previous job, but it’s really nice to have this now as part of my daily job and being surrounded by so much knowledge in this area on the other side is quite exciting so I can’t really say what the one thing is that excites me.

What makes Ledger different from other places you’ve worked?

I’ve only been with Ledger for four and a half months now, but what I found quite interesting right from the start is that I’m given a lot of space to bring in ideas and improvements. Something that’s just different/new on the product side for me is that Ledger is not just software, but it’s actually the hardware in combination with several pieces of software that makes the whole product. I had some respect (maybe fear?) before I started about how this will all work together in day to day development, but I quickly learned that Ledger developed quite a robust set of internal, handy tools to tackle this.

What has been your development journey since you joined Ledger?

I have definitely become more fluent in “crypto lingo". I’m working with some other Ledgers in a group to improve AI usage in teams and the company in general, which already gave me quite a boost regarding productivity around generative AI tools. Overall the support of my team and the company has given me more confidence to develop and push for improvements.

What’s the most rewarding project you’ve worked on at Ledger?

That’s almost impossible to say. My team is one part of a big application and every little piece of improvement that I or we can deliver helps to make this application better release for release. For me, almost every line of code that gets released to production is as rewarding as any other. Maybe it’s easier to sometimes look back at how things were a couple of months back and how much has improved since then to get this rewarding feeling.

Besides that, there was one line of code that I changed three months ago, which fixed a tiny jump in the UI, which was driving me crazy.

How would you describe the team culture in three words?

Dynamic, open, encouraging.

What's a piece of advice you’d give to someone who is just starting their career?

Tech is already my second “career”, so I’ve been there more than once and for me the most important thing is really the people around you. You’ll grow your knowledge on the job anyways, but it’s way easier, faster and more fun if you can do this in a team you feel comfortable and supported in.

Can you tell us about your role at Ledger?

I support our customers by troubleshooting technical issues and educating them so they can get the best experience from our products.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I absolutely love the outdoors. Hiking, camping, and spending time at the beach are some of my favorite things. I also enjoy listening to many different genres of music, and I attend concerts as often as I can.

What are you currently learning or working on that excites you?

In addition to my regular CS duties, I also handle support on our social media platforms. I really enjoy this because it allows me to interact with users in a different way than standard email or chat support by being part of the ongoing conversations in our active communities. Social media support also naturally reaches more people than just the individual asking, which makes it even more exciting.

What makes Ledger different from other places you’ve worked?

What makes Ledger different from other places I’ve worked is being encouraged to test and explore new tech with a level of autonomy I truly value. The opportunity to keep learning every day in the fast moving world of crypto keeps things exciting. The work - life balance at Ledger really stands out too!

What has been your development journey since you joined Ledger?

Since joining Ledger, I’ve built stronger problem solving and troubleshooting skills, and I’ve also improved how I communicate with both customers and the teams I work with. Overall, I’ve become much more confident and adaptable.

What’s the most rewarding project you’ve worked on at Ledger?

I’ve worked on many rewarding projects, but a recent overhaul of our social media support documentation stands out. I enjoyed reviewing and improving existing materials, as well as creating new documentation for standard workflows the team can refer to.

How would you describe the team culture in three words?

Supportive, fun, and dynamic.

What's a piece of advice you’d give to someone who is just starting their career?

My advice would be to remember there’s always more to learn. Ask questions, stay open to feedback, and give yourself time to explore things on your own.

Can you tell us about your role at Ledger?

My role entails building and optimizing frontend features while collaborating closely with design, product, and backend teams to deliver high-quality, performant, and user-friendly Buy/Sell/Card applications.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, working on small side projects, and experimenting with new tech. I also love watching movies and exploring new music, which helps me relax and stay curious about the world.

What are you currently learning or working on that excites you?

I’m currently focused on advanced frontend performance and scalable architecture, exploring React concurrency, efficient state management, and design-to-code workflows to build faster, more maintainable interfaces. At the same time, I’m deepening my knowledge in the blockchain space to better align frontend development with the unique challenges and opportunities of Web3 applications.

What makes Ledger different from other places you’ve worked?

What makes Ledger different is the mix of meaningful impact and innovation. Everything we build ties directly to people’s security and freedom, and there’s a strong culture of collaboration where product, design, and engineering all push each other to do better.

What has been your development journey since you joined Ledger?

Since joining Ledger, I’ve grown a lot in how I approach problems. I’ve become more confident in owning features end-to-end, more thoughtful about writing clean and scalable code, and better at collaborating across teams to balance technical needs with business goals.

What’s the most rewarding project you’ve worked on at Ledger?

One project I especially enjoyed was creating the countdown feature that refreshes quotes every 60 seconds. It ensures users always see the most accurate rates in real time, while behind the scenes it brought exciting challenges around timing, synchronization, and reliability that I tackled together with design and backend teams.

How would you describe the team culture in three words?

I’d describe the team culture as collaborative, driven, and supportive. Everyone genuinely helps each other grow while pushing to build the best possible products.

What's a piece of advice you’d give to someone who is just starting their career?

My advice to someone starting their career would be: stay curious and ask questions fearlessly. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, because that’s how you really learn and grow. Always try to build things that challenge you.

Can you tell us about your role at Ledger?

As a Staff Engineer at Ledger, my role is not just to solve technical problems but also to advise, provide context, and think big.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I’m a big music lover so I’m mainly finding and discovering new artists, at a concert, or running around a festival.

What are you currently learning or working on that excites you?

I’m creating reusable transactional functions to allow our users to deposit into ERC-4626 standard vaults, which means people can earn rewards from popular stablecoins like USDC. It’s always fun learning about new protocols and the ingenious ways that people are extending ERC-20 token functionality!

What makes Ledger different from other places you’ve worked?

Of course being in web3 is very dynamic, but it’s also unique to work with secure hardware. Since the devices and the ecosystem are both evolving quickly, there are always opportunities to learn.

What has been your development journey since you joined Ledger?

I’ve gained insights into many layers of security, despite mainly working on the front-end. Since the ambition is huge and the challenges can be complex, I've also had much practice in the art of tight collaboration, staying flexible and open to adapt, and writing code that you can keep in your head!

What’s the most rewarding project you’ve worked on at Ledger?

I got to rebuild one of our apps from scratch. The features were known, but I was able to choose the structure and design. That is always a delight!

How would you describe the team culture in three words?

What's a piece of advice you’d give to someone who is just starting their career?

My advice to someone starting their career would be: Figure out how you learn best, and don’t be afraid to try things, make bold technical decisions, and learn from the consequences.
